Mind The Gaps is a commission for 10x10 London, Article 25’s flagship fundraising art auction which took place on 22nd November 2018. The brief set out an abstracted grid of 100 squares which trace the route of the Elizabeth Line through central London from Paddington to Whitechapel, and invited each artist to conceptualise their view of the area through imagined journeys contained in their allocated square along London’s largest contemporary infrastructure project.

The response to Square No.50 is an attempt at representing the fragmented nature of memory, in this instance when recalling underground journeys projected onto the ground level of the city of London.

A polar grid positions and orientates this imaginary and imagined experience, the grid itself being used at once to fragment the familiar territory of a map and to signify the distorted connectedness of our subjective memory of a place.

East-west and west-east journeys along the Central and Elizabeth Lines intersect where they are recalled, near the junction of High Holborn and Grays Inn Road.
